Duration: 6 days
Distance: Approximately 2150 km/1345 miles

With this tour we are also heading towards the Lowveld passing through Nelspruit. Again we overnight underneath the mountain cliffs of the Lebombo mountains on the border between South Africa and Mozambique.

Very early the next morning we enter Swaziland through the border post of Mananga. Beautiful settings in Swaziland include: Big Bend, Nsela and Riverside. We head towards Durban late afternoon travelling through the North Coast of Kwazulu-Natal and staying on this beautiful part of the coast. The next day we reach Durban and spend the day traipsing around this huge cosmopolitan harbour city. From there we tour down the South Coast (Amanzimtoti, Kingsburgh, Scottburgh, Hibberdene, Port Shepstone and Uvongo) to Margate where we stay two nights.

The Sea Monster which arrived on the beach one day put Margate on the world map. The date of this spectacle is not certain as various publications give different dates. However, a Mr. A.C. Jones, an eye witness gives the date as November 1924. It has often been said that the supposed “monster” was more likely a large dead whale which was attacked repeatedly by sharks and mutilated beyond description. Using Margate as our base we do sightseeing down the rest of the coast up to the Wild Coast (the former Transkei). Picturesque little coast towns on this route include: Ramsgate, Southbroom, Palm Beach, Glenmore Beach and Port Edward.

On day five we move from Margate passing Durban on our way to the interior via Pietermaritzburg and travel across the Natal Midlands. We overnight at Howick and we also visit the well known Howick Falls. From there we take the N3 and pass through the Province of the Free State (with a beauty of its own) back to Potchefstroom. Towns on this route include: Estcourt, Harrismith, Villiers and Vereeniging.
